News Blurbs: Todd Lowe Added to EyeCon True Blood Convention, and More!
I have another round of convention news, hot off the presses today! This edition will cover West Coast Convention, Anime Central (ACEN), London MCM Expo, Buffalo Comic Con, EyeCon True Blood, and more.

1. ‘Geeks’ and ‘Nerds’ had Great Time at First West Coast Sci-fi Convention
Canada’s The Western Star has a report on the recent West Coast Convention. The first for this particular area of Newfoundland, it was considered “long overdue” by the areas self-proclaimed geeks. Guests included Paul Weston, Matthew LeDrew, Ellen Curtis, and Darren Hann.
2. College’s Anime Club (UNO) to Host ‘Sweets and Treats’ Bake Sale
The Sauk Valley Community College anime club, UNO (United Neo Otaku), is looking to raise money for a trip to the Anime Central (ACEN) convention. If you happen to be in the area, stop by today from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and support their efforts!
3. Yui Makino Interview – NYAF 2009
The FUNimation Blog has posted an interview with Japanese singer Yui Makino. She’s also a voice actress, and is known for her work as Princess Sakura of CLAMP’s TSUBASA RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. Note: This is a video interview.
4. Mushishi: The Movie to be Screened at the Japan Information and Culture Center
The DC Anime Club, in collaboration with Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan, will be showing the movie Mushishi on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 6:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. RSVP to jiccrsvpfall09@embjapan.org. Seating is limited and granted on a first come, first served basis.
5. London MCM Expo Convention Report
The “GagaMan” has a convention report from the London MCM Expo. His report includes sketches he created before, during and after his trip, as well as photos from the con. Sounds like the convention was pretty crowded, as the poster had to wait in a two hour queue for tickets. But he did still have fun.
6. Buffalo Comic Con Debriefing
Yet another convention report, but this one concerns Buffalo Comic Con. Whereas London MCM Expo was massive, Buffalo Comic Con was a much smaller convention. This poster has some advice for those who are attending conventions as artists/art dealers, as well as some overall thoughts about the convention.
7. EyeCon True Blood Adds Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur) to Guest Lineup
EyeCon, the company behind Twilight and True Blood conventions, has added actor Todd Lowe to their guest list. Also on the guest list is Sam Trammel, Nelsan Ellis, Allan Hyde, and Ashley Jones. And yes, EyeCon still has one of the most frustrating websites out there. Hey guys? Bright purple itty bitty font on a black background may look cute, but it’s hard to read.
