Dragon*con Website Posts First Guests for 2010, Which Includes Three Star Trek Actors

Published by dreadpiraterose at 9:07 pm under Convention Info Edit This

Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker of Star Trek) at a conventionDragon*con has just updated its website to reflect the first round of guests slated to appear for 2010. My good friend Tara over at Seventh Kingdom IGE is going to flip, because one of those guests is Jonathan Frakes, who played William T. Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation (she’s a huge JF fan). Joining Frakes will be fellow Star Trek actors Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), and Rene Auberjonois (Odo). Also listed is author Laurell K. Hamilton, and actor Howard Hesseman (WKRP in Cincinnati).

On a personal note, I have met all three of these Star Trek actors before, and each was gracious and delightfully funny (especially Frakes). This is a real treat for Trek fans! Each of these actors has attended Dragon*con at least once before.

You can expect a ton of Dragon*con 2010 guest announcements over the next eleven months or so. Of course, seeing as how it is almost a full year away still, you can probably expect some changes and cancellations. Stay tuned!

Note: Sorry for the initial typos. I was so damned excited (mostly for Tara) that I clearly wasn’t really watching what I was typing. Whoops!

The problem is the cancellation rate for a Dragon*Con guest seems to be 10x higher than those attending other conventions. Couple that with the number of last minute (actually last 90 days) additions, it makes it extremely hard to make the decision to attend based off the guest list alone. Luckily Dragon*Con has so much else going for it, people flock in droves. How long did it take for the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Sheraton take to sell-out this year?
