News Blurbs: SDCC 2010, Anime Vegas, Star Trek: The Experience, and More!

Published by dreadpiraterose at 4:30 am under Convention News Blurbs Edit This

The Star Trek Experience in Las VegasCan you believe? We’re already going to be talking about San Diego Comic-Con 2010! I mean, I guess it’s only fair, considering how much we’ve been griping about Dragon*con 2010 already. But I promise this entry of News Blurbs has only one SDCC link! Read below for stories about Anime Vegas, Kuzuricon, Star Trek: The Experience, and more!

1. Comic-Con International 2010 Attendee Registration Available

That’s right, it’s time to get your tickets for SDCC 2010! 4-Day Attendee Memberships are now available online. Please note that these memberships are limited. There is also a new option to buy your ticket with our without “Preview Night.” The prices are the same, but get “Preview Night” while it is still available if you’re interested in attending on Wednesday, July 21st.

2. Anime Vegas 2009 from Sequential Tart
The website “Sequential Tart” has a convention report from Anime Vegas 2009. It is particularly detailed, and has some great photos posted as well. It also lists all the new “Funimation New Releases.”

3. Almost Live From Kuzuricon–The Con Reports Begin

This is the first report of many to come from www.screenhead.com, who recently attended Kuzuricon in Battle Creek, Michigan. They have uploaded some photos, and are promising more reports to come.

4. Plans to Give ‘Star Trek’ Attraction a Home in Vegas Still Alive

If you’re anything like me, you probably still pine a little for the former Star Trek: The Experience exhibit in Las Vegas. Well, never fear fellow fans, the plans to redo the exhibit are still in motion. Maybe in a few years Creation will stop hosting their big convention at the Hilton (they betrayed us and still haven’t started using that empty space), and have it at the exhibit’s new location instead.

5. The Head of Dragon*Con

This article from Roddenberry.com takes some time to talk to Dragon*con chairman Pat Henry. According to the article, “Henry heads up a staff with 9 senior directors, and under them about 80 directors, which head up the total staff which, in 2009, numbered over 1,800 people.” Wow!

6. Fan Interviews from Long Beach Comic Con: How Much is an Autograph Worth?

One of my favorite convention bloggers, Liz Ohanesian, interviews attendees at Long Beach Comic Con about autograph prices. Turns out the legendary Stan Lee charges less than some Star Trek actors. I’m may be a Trek fan, but even I know that in the grand geek equation, Stan Lee > Star Trek actors. Also, Liz had some kind words for us here at Convention Fans. She called us “required reading for keeping up on national con news.” Thanks Liz!

As always, if you have convention news to share, post a comment!
