Cons from A to Z: U and V are for UFOFest, VGXPO, and VulCON
Hello convention fans! It’s time for the 20th installment of the Cons from A to Z series! As you know, I have been working with fellow con-goer Nathan Lilly, who is the man behind the Green Tentacles Convention Finder website, to bring you this informative series of articles.
If you want to find a convention that is near you, Nathan’s Con Finder website offers searches via zip code and content tags (such as “zombies”), so it is easy to find a convention nearby that fits you, which is why he’s the best partner for this series. Together, Nathan and I will be bringing you “Cons from A to Z” which will go through the entire alphabet and highlight a handful of conventions for each letter. This is a great way to bring some attention to some of the more unique conventions out there. And the letters for today are “U” and “V”:

May 14th, 2009 - May 15th, 2010 in McMinnville, OR 97128
This event features UFO Speakers, a Costume Parade, Live Music, Kids’ Fun and more! Not only is the festival an educational experience for both believers and skeptics, it’s a fun time for families and friends. The festival began as a way to honor the famous 1950 Trent sighting in which two local citizens witnessed and photographed a UFO, said to be some of the most credible images of UFOs to date. Read a detailed history of the Trent sightings.

VulCON 2010 dates still haven’t been announced, but be sure to keep checking back at the website over the next few months! VulCON, also called Spock Days/Galaxyfest is Vulcan, Alberta’s Annual community-wide Star Trek Convention. From the website: “It’s too soon to get into any programming specifics, but rest assured we will have a lot of fun planning and scheming to make Vulcan, Alberta’s 2010 community-wide Star Trek convention one to remember!”
