Bayou Wars XVII - A New Orleans Area Gaming Convention
This convention comes recommended by one of my readers: Bayou Wars XVII! It is a “wargamming” convention, and it is being held June 26 - 28, 2009 at the Radisson Hotel in Kenner, Louisiana. Unfortunately the website is still a bit sparse on information like ticket prices and a guest list.
As for activities, there will be a ton of gaming (naturally), as well as a miniatures contest, a D&D Miniature Tournament, a traders “flea” market, merchants area, a snack bar, a Second Annual George Carr Sr. Colonial Game, a Painting Demo, and much much more!

The convention location is the Radisson Hotel in Kenner, Louisiana. The convention rate for a room is $79.00 a night. Remember to mention “Bayou Wars” to get your special convention rate. There is an “Important Note” listed regarding reservations: the Radisson website does have a toll-free number, which goes to their National reservations line; however, they will NOT HONOR THE BAYOU WARS RATE. You must call the local 504 area code number to get the rate.
The host hotel has a breakfast buffet ($10 plux tax), as well as “The Bliss Cafe” (muffins, bagels, Barnie’s coffee), and “The 2150 City Grill Restaurant” (Breakfast from 6:30-11am, Lunch from 11am-2pm, Dinner from 5-10pm). Room Service is available daily from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
