Creation’s Official East Coast Star Trek Convention - 2009

Published by dreadpiraterose at 2:15 am under Upcoming Conventions Edit This

Robert O’Reilly as GowronIt’s no real secret that I am not a fan of Creation Entertainment conventions. I think they are over priced, and always looking for new ways to gouge the fans of the shows they operate cons for. However, I will admit to being tempted by this one: the official East Coast Star Trek convention, happening July 31 - August 2 in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Why am I tempted? The guest list is awesome! The 2009 Official East Coast Star Trek convention guest list includes: Leonard Nimoy, Kate Mulgrew, Connor Trineer, John Billingsley, Jeffrey Combs, Marc Alaimo, Sizue Plakson, J. G. Hertzler, and Robert O’Reilly.

But do you know what’s even better than having Nimoy on the guest list? Having J. G. Hertzler, and Robert O’Reilly appearing in their Klingon costumes! Yeah, you read that right. You can even get a picture with the pair in costume for $65!

Now, some of these guests are only appearing on certain days, so be sure to check the official website before you consider making the trek into New Jersey. And since this is a Creation con, it will cost you a pretty penny to go.  The Gold Weekend Package is $359, and has some autographs include, as well as the usual amenities.

Leonard Nimoy as SpockYou can get in for as cheap as $74 for the weekend, or $50 for Friday only (but you’ll miss out on a lot of guests, hence the lower price). Prices for autographs and photo-ops are available on the site, and range in price from $20 to $65 (that would be Nimoy’s autograph costing $65). Photo-ops range in price from $40 to $70 (with Nimoy once again being the big ticket item there).

There is a special hotel room discount at the hosting hotel, the Hilton Parsippany. The rate is $139 a night and the phone number is (973) 267-7373. Everyone who stays in the hotel can enter the con’s Hotel Room Contest (which they have at registration) which gives you entrance to a drawing where the winner gets a gift certificate.

If you attend this convention, be sure to post a comment with links to your photos, videos, and convention reports! Be sure to take a look at our articles about other upcoming Star Trek conventions!

    Just popping over to say, see what you’re up to. Thought of you last night or the night before, saw a funny Star Trek Commercial on TV as I was passing through the living room. I don’t even know what they were advertising as I was passing through. Hubby was watching Hockey, but the commercial was funny, in that the animation was good. Wonder if you’ve seen it?

    Have a good wkend.

    @ Sandy

    Was it the Burger King Klingon commercial?

    Psst….if you want to go to the Star Trek convention in Parsippany, I advise shopping around for the hotel rate. I’m getting a better deal at that Hilton than the group rate negotiated by Creation Entertainment.

    You know who I can’t wait to see? Suzie Plakson, aka Marshall’s Minnesota mom from How I Met Your Mother. As an ex-pat Minnesotan, and a Trek Fan, AND a fan of HIMYM I cannot help but be a bit tickled that Suzie’s going to be there.

    @Suze

    I met Suzie at the Star Trek Experience in Vegas last year. She’s super tall! She also happens to be very nice. :)

    Sooo unimpressed by Suzie. She gave us her resume to look at of what shows she was on. I never knew she was on HIMYM and when I questioned it she could not even remember Marshall’s name. Her resume she gave us said re-occurring role but when we looked it up she was on the show twice. That’s IMHO is not re-occurring. We were trying to be nice but she just did not want to talk to anyone or looked like even be there.
