Major Guest Announcements for the Official Farscape Convention (and a major price tag to match)
Creation Entertainment, who runs the Official Farscape Convention, put out a big guest announcement recently. The convention is happening November 6 - 8, 2009 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport in California. The big guest announcement? It would seem they have added Ben Browder and Claudia Black to the guest list. They also have Gigi Edgley, Virginia Hey, and a few others from the show scheduled to appear.
Ben Browder and Claudia Black are currently only scheduled to appear on Sunday. However, if you’re worried about not getting enough time with Ben, there is a special Sunday morning breakfast event. It will, as usual, cost extra (and tickets for it cannot be obtained via any of the over priced package deals either). The breakfast will cost you a whopping $99.
The convention is still a few months out, which means there may be additional guests added. You are advised to consider purchasing your Gold Weekend Package tickets soon, however, as the addition of Browder and Black are sure to spur on ticket sales. The Gold passes are $389, and does include autographs…sorta. Black and Browder’s aren’t included in the package, will cost $70 a piece in advance, and $80 if they are still available the day of.
Unfreakinbelievable!
I cannot fathom how and why people pay that much for some of these guests. I can forgive someone like Leonard Nimoy, who has a 50+ year career and 11 major motion pictures under his belt. But how can Browder and Black possibly justify this outrageous pricing?
Oh wait, it’s because people will actually PAY it.

The autograph ticket prices are crazy high but Ben and Claudia do not set the prices; Creation Entertainment does. Depending on the contract deal Ben or Claudia have with Creation, they may not get any of the proceeds from the autographs but only a flat fee for appearing at the convention.
