News Blurb: Anyone Remember the JumpCon Fiasco?

Published by dreadpiraterose at 7:06 pm under Convention News Blurbs Edit This

The Interwebz were all a buzz last year as two big conventions bit the dust: FedConUSA and JumpCon. I’m not going to bother rehashing all of the details, but suffice it to say, JumpCon’s organizer Shane Senter has just been indicted on theft charges. You can read all about it at Airlock Alpha. (While you’re there, check out Michael Hinman’s other article “Readers: Fan Conventions Definitely In Trouble“.)

Were any of YOU impacted by the shut down of  FedConUSA or JumpCon? Post a comment. We’d love to hear from you, and what this indictment means to you personally (and did you ever get that refund…?).

I wasn’t impacted personally, but I knew a few vendors and atendees who got hosed by the organizers at FedCon USA, plus since I’m part of the team that puts on FENcon (which is also in Dallas) we had a busy week of damage control after that mess.

I was affected by it. I was foolish enough to buy tickets to jumpcon and I never got a refund. Whether or not this actualy leads to me getting my money back, I’m glad that jerk Shane is getting his

I too was foolish and bought a ticket to jumpcon. Not holding my breath while waiting for a refund….figure that won’t happen. Just hope Shane gets what he deserves.
