News Blurbs: Cons in Alabama, Missouri, Illinois This Weekend (and more links to con articles)
Hello dear readers! It’s time for another round up of convention news and articles from around the Interwebz. As a reminder, if you have any news or if you’ve written an article about a convention, be sure to reply with a link! Your story could wind up on the next News Blurbs post!
The first link is an article about an upcoming anime convention called Kami-Con at the University of Alabama. This is a small con, which only expects to have a few hundred people in attendance. Kami-Con runs April 25-26 at the Ferguson Center on the University of Alabama campus. Read the full article about Kami-Con for more details.
Another smaller con taking place this weekend, April 25-26, is 4th annual Cape Girardeau Comi-Con at the West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The con will feature an appearance by Gary Friedrich, who created the Ghost Rider character. This con is hoping for attendance numbers of about 1,300. Read the entire article about Cape Girardeau Comi-Con here.
OpCon is another convention happening this weekend, at Oak Park River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois. This is a one day event, occurring Saturday from 9:30am-5:30pm. Events include Lessons in Elvish, a Dark Knight showing (and other movies), Guitar Hero, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), and more. It’s only $6 for adults. Read more about OpCon here.
And finally, here are two links about FX International and Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo, which happened pretty recently:

(If you scroll down through Mike’s FX photos, you’ll see a picture of a trio of Klingons. The one in the middle is Norm from the USS Haven Star Trek club, who I interviewed a few months ago!)
