News Blurbs: More Con Announcements, Articles, and Convention Twitterers
I have a four great links/news blurbs for you all today. The first is an announcement about Random Con 2009, which takes place May 7th - 10th, 2009 in Arizona. Random Con is a brand new convention for gamers, and will include RPGs, Boardgames, Miniatures, Card Games and LARPs. You can check out the announcement yourself over at the Con_Central LiveJournal community (remember, you can add Convention Fans to your LJ friend’s list), or the official Random Con 2009 website.
The next item on my list comes from Green Mustard/Wasabi Anime. They have gone through the trouble of compiling a list of all the convention Twitter accounts out there. There are a TON of conventions on this list, from furry cons to anime cons, and more. Just a reminder, you can follow me on Twitter too!
Our third item is a link to a story from the University of California - Irvine, titled “Geeks En Masse: Nearby Cons for the Geeky at UC Irvine.” It attempts to dispel some common geek myths, as well as provide some information on California conventions (including BlizzCon, Comic Con, Anime Expo, and E3).
Last, but not least, is an article from the Otaku University Philippines Online blog. The goal of the blog, apparently, is to “educate the ‘world’ [on] what otaku means and what otaku’s lives really are like. [W]e are a group of the dreamers, the gifted the lost and all the youth of today and the past. [W]e are a family here all together as an online university we will stand strong.” The article I wanted to bring to your attention is about The Ateneo Shizen Orchestra Anime Convention, which has apparently been rescheduled for April 25th, 2009. The organizers apparently insist that “this rescheduling is 100% sure.” So if you’re looking for an anime convention in the Philippines, there you go. There’s plenty more info on their website.
