Family Guy’s Stewie Goes to a Star Trek Convention, Kidnaps the Cast
I’m a huge fan of both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Family Guy. Needless to say, I was absolutely ecstatic when Wil Wheaton (TNG’s Wesley Crusher) mentioned on his blog that there were plans to do an absolutely epic Family Guy episode. This was back in September 2007. The episode is finally airing tonight, March 29th.
It is long time to wait for an episode of a TV show, but I’m pretty confident that Family Guy will deliver, and make it worth our wait. You may be wondering why a blog about conventions would write about an episode of Family Guy, but if you read the official episode synopsis, I’m sure you’ll see why:
“The Griffin family heads to the annual Quahog Star Trek convention, but Stewie blows a fuse when he doesn’t get a chance to ask his favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation cast members any questions. He devises a plan, builds a transporter and beams the entire cast to his bedroom so they can spend a fun-filled day together in Quahog.”
A promotional video was also released, along with the still image pictured here. If the promo video is any indication, I suspect this episode of Family Guy will go down in history as one of the funniest they’ve done.
Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy and American Dad, is a self described Star Trek fan, and has put numerous Star Trek references in both of his shows in the past. In fact, Patrick Stewart (Next Generation’s Captain Picard) voices a character on American Dad. Seth was able to get the entire Next Generation cast to voice themselves for this special episode tonight.
So, if you haven’t planned to already, be sure to watch Family Guy tonight! When it’s over, come back here and post a comment, letting us know what you thought of it.
