Convention Profile: Norwescon 32
Holy April conventions, Batman! Seriously, there are so many lined up for the month of April. I may even start doing two convention profiles a day just to get caught up! Norwescon 32 is another early April convention (9 - 12th), and it takes place in Seatac, Washington, at The Doubletree hotel.
Norwescon is “one of the largest regional Science Fiction conventions in the United States,” according to its organizers. It has a focus on the literary side of science fiction, but also has programming for other sci-fi mediums and genres.
The current guest list for Norwescon is as follows: R.A. Salvatore (NYT best selling author), Todd Lockwood (an award winning artist), representatives from Wizards of the Coast, and Geno Salvatore (author).
There are numerous panels and events scheduled for the con, including a Masquerade, writers workshops, 24-hour gaming, an art show, The Fandance Film Festival, a Single Pattern Contest, along with much more still to be announced!
Memberships for Norwescon are $55 through March 6, 2009. Those under the age of 18 must complete a permission form before arriving. You can also register online via PayPal. You can read more about memberships here.
As for accommodations, the convention rate block of rooms at The Doubletree is sold out. Regular rooms are available at $149.00 a night. Convention organizers ask that if you decide to book a non-con rate room, that you still mention that you are with Norwescon so that the convention gets credited with your stay. There is an overflow hotel (The Hilton Seattle Airport & Convention Center), where you can get a room for $125.00 per night. Read more about accommodations here.
As always, if you attend this convention, be sure to report back and tell us how it was! You can read about more upcoming conventions here.

NorWesCon is legendary in the Pacific NW region for being the best fantasy/sci-fi con in the area. The parties are epic and the crowds are always a blast.
