Con Vids: Vic Mignogna Whips His Female Fans Into a Frenzy With…Candy?
That Vic Mignogna is a clever guy. Not only is he a successful anime voice actor, but he knows that the secret to an otaku’s heart is free anything, especially free sugar. I’ve seen first hand what otaku will do for pocky, and the video below is further evidence that sugar is the true official currency of anime conventions. Watch how these ladies in the audience flip out over some handfuls of free candy being given out by Vic.
If you’re actually interested in what Vic has to say about his voice acting experiences and such, you’ll need to wade through the screaming and shouting of the first several minutes.
And for the record, this Vic guy is EVERYWHERE. He attended Oni-Con (where the above footage is from), Mizu Con, and he’s attending the upcoming Megacon in Florida.
The guy even has his own World of Warcraft commercial. Apparently he plays a Warlock (currently least played class in PvP mind you)…
Update: So apparently the WoW commercial is something Vic made for his fans. I knew it seemed totally weird/unlikely that Blizzard would hire a guy known for his voice, and not his face, for a TV commercial. Vic may be famous among the anime fans, but he’s no William Shatner or Mr. T. He doesn’t even play apparently, and got the footage from someone he knows. ROFL!
Anyway, the guy seems nice enough. Although I haven’t really watched any of the anime shows he’s lent his voice to (shameful and hard to believe, I know), I’m sure I’m bound to run into him at a convention soon enough. Maybe I’ll get lucky and score some free candy.
