Convention News Blurbs: Trek Con on TV, French Stargate, and Doctor Who

Published by dreadpiraterose at 3:31 pm under Convention News Blurbs Edit This

I have a quick news round up for you, dear readers. There is so much convention news and updates floating around the Internet, I figured I’d post some links to stories and sites that you might find interesting and useful. It’s all part of my master scheme to become the one-stop-shop for convention info. Bwuahaha!

1. Apparently the TBS original series Ten Items or Less will have a Star Trek themed episode coming up. According to an article at Cleveland.com, the character Leslie will be holding a “Star Trok” convention in the grocery store where the series takes place. Somehow, I don’t think this will give a positive representation of the fandom. Trekkies beware. The episode may make that Vulcan blood boil.

2. If you’re in France, and a Stargate fan, be sure to check out the website for this upcoming French Stargate convention. My French isn’t fantastic, but it looks like it’s being held February 21 and 22nd. If you DO speak French, you can find more info on the official website.

3.  If you are still on the fence about attending the Doctor Who/Torchwood convention, Gallifrey One 2009, a blogger recently posted their recap of Gallifrey 2008. It is a very detailed account of the blogger’s time there, so definitely check it out by clicking here!

That’s it for today! As always, if you have any convention news or press releases, send ‘em my way!

Thanks for the warning about the Trek thing. Being a Trekkie/Trekker is almost as ego-bruising as being a LARPer sometimes…and I am both!
