Convention Fans

Convention Fans would like to wish everyone a wonderful and happy holiday season, regardless of what tradition you celebrate. I hope that you’re spending it with friends and family, enjoying their company, eating good food, and sharing stories.

For this Christmas Eve edition of Convention Fans, I wanted to share with you a few of “my favorite things” (to quote another holiday song). It’s a collection of links to other blogs, online stores, websites, etc. - all related to fandom or conventions in some way.

My Favorite Blogs: WilWheaton.Net (the actor behind TNG’s own Wesley Crusher, and one of the most awesome geeks around), RealityBlurred.com (tons of actors across various fandoms have wound up on reality TV), and The Costumer (my friend Tara’s blog on costuming)

My Favorite Webcomics: Penny Arcade (the ones behind PAX), and Ding! (a World of Warcraft comic)

My Favorite Online Games: World of Warcraft (my character’s Armory page), and Puzzle Pirates (I actually beta tested this game back in the day!)

My Favorite eBay Sellers: Katarra8 (for some of the best costume items around), starthreadsgale (for Star Trek TOS movie uniforms), and ms.purdy (for Victorian/steampunk/Lolita hats)

My Favorite Online Stores: Gallery Serpentine (absolutely stunning Victorian clothing), Damsel in this Dress (great ren faire clothing here), Kristi Smart (saw her clothes at Dragon*con and was stunned!), and Whimsic Alley (my favorite store for Harry Potter costume pieces)

My Favorite Convention: Dragon*con (naturally)

Other Favorite Websites: WoWInsider.com (the best WoW news site out there), Today.com (of course), LiveJournal (for personal blogging purposes, and a strong fandom community), Gaia Online (a great anime inspired forum site), and SithCamaro.com (Toby Markham’s official website, and the home of Santa Sparrow - pictured above)
